The Role of Play in Brain Development and Building Resilience in Young Children

June 4, 2022 @ 12:30 pm

For: ALL Caregivers
Trainer: Dr. Mary Sciaraffa, CFLE
Cost: $20 per person

CDA Goal: #2 – To advance physical and intellectual competence.

Three factors that stand out as contributors to resilience are: Cognitive development/problem solving, self-regulation, and relationships with caring adults. Play fosters all three of these factors. Play enables children to build resilience through risk taking and challenges. Caring adults can facilitate play in a safe environment to assist children in navigating self-regulation. Participants will acquire knowledge on developing strategies to cultivate resilience within children and families. Participants will learn how play develops problem-solving, collaboration, creative and critical thinking skill which in turn builds resilience.

Must add staff names with a current email address. A Zoom Link will be sent to each person with instructions and handouts.
